Additional Funding

The short-term and long-terms costs associated with brain injury can be staggering. What happens where there is just simply not enough money to cover the survivor’s needs?

At that point, it’s time to turn to your community for help. Churches and service organizations are often willing to help with services, donations, and fundraisers. Look to family members and friends to organize these events. Many are looking for a way to help, and this is a great way to put them to work. There are also many resources online, and a growing list of resources at www.braininjury.net.

To learn more about raising funds to offset the costs of medical care related to brain injury, try familiarizing yourself with the NTAF Catastrophic Injury Program. This non-profit, tax-deductible program allows funds to be collected in the name of the survivor, and then released as needed. NTAF also shows survivors and their loved ones how to hold fundraising events. This is also a fantastic program to use if you would like alternative treatments that aren’t covered by traditional insurance policies and programs such as Medicare. A brain injury survivor who benefits from acupuncture, for example, can use the funds in the NTAF account to cover the cost.

For more information on this program contact NTAF at 1.800.642.8399, or visit them on their website at www.transplantfund.org.
